Mrs. N.M. Rajeshwari Garu worked as a teacher for more than 20 years. After her children got settled abroad, she started to feel the loneliness that comes with age.

Recognizing this, Rajeshwari Garu founded Thodu Needa in the year 2010,an organisation organization that addresses the emotional, social, and psychological needs of older adults.

Thödu-Needa has transformed the lives of many men and women offering become a great support and hope for elderly neglected individuals by providing companionship, re-marriage opportunities, day centres and Anand Yatra (tours). Platform for seniors to share feelings, build relationships, and find purpose.

Thodu-Needa’s  success is a testament to the transformative power of breaking societal norms.

Apart from Thodu-Needa other social activities include:

-Drinking Water Initiatives: Summer water supply stations for pedestrians.

-Clothing Distribution: Providing clothes to the poor and needy.

-Relief Work: Volunteer aid in flood/fire relief in Andhra Pradesh.

-AASARA Programmes: Medical camps and elderly welfare initiatives in Hyderabad.

-Physiotherapy Volunteer: Support at AASARA-HELPAGE INDIA physiotherapy centers.

-Senior Citizens Advocacy: General Secretary and Vice President roles in senior citizens’ organizations.

-Education Support: Coaching for fishermen’s children.

-Elders Mela Convener: Organized senior engagement events.

-Scholarships & Legal Aid:For underprivileged students
